How to properly cleanse your skin

How to properly cleanse your skin

All skin needs to be cleansed twice daily, especially if you struggle with congestion, acne, and clogged pores. The exception to this rule may be extremely dry skin, but even then it’s best to at least wash your face with just water or a very gentle oil/cream cleanser in the morning and give your skin a more thorough cleanse in the evening.

The Morning Cleanse

The purpose of the morning cleanse is to remove any sweat, oil and dirt that accumulated in the night, including any products you have in your hair which likely rubbed off on your pillow and onto your skin.

Keep your morning cleanse quick and efficient. Apply 1-2 pumps of cleanser to your face, add water to emulsify, gently massage over the skin for a few seconds, then rinse with lukewarm water and move on with the rest of your routine.

The Evening Cleanse

Thoroughly cleansing the skin in the evening is essential to keeping skin clear and blemish-free and to prepare a clean canvas for any treatment products that will be applied after, maximizing the results from these products.

In the evening, we recommend doing a Double Cleanse; remove makeup and SPF with an oil cleanser like Fluide or micellar water then follow with Active Clay Cleanser to properly cleanse the skin. Massage 1-2 pumps of Active Cay Cleanser onto dry skin, adding water to emulsify as needed. Leave on the skin for at least 1 minute to let the resurfacing actives do their work. The papaya extracts enzymatically exfoliate the skin, while caviar lime and willow bark chemically exfoliate the skin to gently brighten and clarify the complexion. Leave Active Clay Cleanser on for up to 5 minutes for a mini “flash-mask” effect on the skin.

Disclaimer: If it works for you, keep doing it! If you prefer to not wash your face in the morning and you look like a poreless, even-toned cherub then please keep it up! If you’re like the rest of us mere mortals (or you live in a hot and humid climate), then wash your face!
